Trade balance breaks new records in the year and in the month of October

2021 surplus reaches US$ 58.58 billion, current trade reaches US$ 413.16 billion and exports totaled US$ 235.87 billion; in October, the results of exports and current of trade were also historic.

The Brazilian trade balance reached new historical results in the year (until October), with records in surplus, in the current of trade (sum of exports and imports), and exports. According to data released on Wednesday (3/11) by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy, the accumulated surplus in 2021 reached US$ 58.58 billion, with a growth of 29.6% when compared to the same period of the previous year, while the current of trade rose 37%, reaching US$ 413.16 billion. Exports, on the other hand, grew 36% and totaled US$ 235.87 billion, and imports increased 38.3%, to US$ 177.29 billion.

Considering only the month of October, there was a record in exports, which totaled US$ 22.52 billion. Imports reached US$ 20.5 billion and had a daily average of over US$ 1 billion – the best for the month since 2015. The flow of trade resulting from these figures reached US$ 43 billion, also a record for the month. The surplus was US$ 2 billion, with a reduction of 54.5% in the daily average compared to the same month last year.

China remains the leader among Brazilian export destinations, accounting for 33.6% of purchases, with US$ 79.219 billion. The United States (10.7%) bought US$ 25.269 billion in Brazilian products this year. Exports to Argentina, on the other hand, grew 46.3% and reached US$ 9.87 billion. To the European Union, US$ 40.761 billion were exported.
