Petrolina is the best city for agribusiness.

With investments in new technologies and constant increases in productivity, agribusiness in Petrolina registered growth in 2021.

The city of Petrolina, in Pernambuco, located on the banks of the São Francisco River, is preparing for another record in fruit exports.

More than 170 thousand tons of mangoes and 50 thousand tons of grapes, the flagships of the region, should reach more than ten countries, such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Spain, this year, moving more than 300 million reais.

With investments in new technologies and constant increases in productivity, agribusiness in Petrolina registered growth in 2021 both in relation to permanent and temporary farming – and, in the first half, exports jumped 48% compared to the same period in 2020.

For these reasons, Petrolina is ranked first in the agribusiness sector in the ranking of the Best Cities to Do Business, prepared by the Urban Systems consultancy. In second place is Patos de Minas, in Minas Gerais, followed by Barrerias, in Bahia.

This strength has had positive impacts on important economic indicators. Between January and August of this year, the balance of jobs was in the blue, with the creation of almost 8 thousand vacancies, a result 11.5% higher than the same period last year. No wonder 57% of new jobs were created in the agricultural sector.
