Brazil is close to reaching the first billion dollars in fruit exports in 2021

The numbers are growing and the fruit sector celebrates, with a 20% increase in the volume of exported fruit in this third quarter of the year, compared to 2020.

The numbers are growing and the fruit sector celebrates, with a 20% increase in the volume of exported fruit in this third quarter of the year, compared to 2020, the sector registers the shipment of over 757,000 tonnes of fruit shipped abroad. Invoicing increased 27% and around 652 million dollars of fruit were sold to the international market. This has made the sector very excited, as they are close to reaching the goal of 1 billion dollars in exports.

Even with the lack of containers and the increase in sea freight, Brazil has registered an increase in fruit exports. Grapes stand out with an increase of 73%, followed by apple, 58%, mango, 26%, papaya, 21%, lemon, 19%, avocado 18% and banana, 16%.

Pineapple, peach and guava are other fruits that have grown in the trade balance. Guava, for example, had an increase in exports of 132%, compared to the same period in 2019. Considered by the international market as an exotic fruit, guava has fallen in favor of importers. This year, more than 354,000 tons of this vibrant and tasty fruit have already been shipped.

For the president of Abrafrutas, the goal of the first billion is close and the sector will celebrate a lot, this being the result of a lot of work and effort by all who make up the Brazilian fruit industry, sector within the agro that employs the most and contributes a lot to the development of the country.
